SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – May 30, 2003 – Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) announced today that Rhonda Scott, the chief nursing officer at South Fulton Medical Center in East Point, Ga., has been selected as one of Tenet’s Outstanding Chief Nursing Officers for 2003.

Scott, a first-time recipient of the Outstanding Chief Nursing Officer Award, has made a tremendous impact at South Fulton. She has outstanding leadership skills and an unwavering commitment to nursing and her staff. Under her leadership, South Fulton continues to improve its overall quality and service.
Candidates were nominated and reviewed by Tenet’s regional and divisional leadership. Winners were selected on both objective criteria and subjective evaluations. The Outstanding Chief Nursing Officer award recognizes nursing leaders for their performance in several key areas, including progress in meeting or exceeding goals established for key patient care indicators and involvement in designing and developing new clinical programs for their hospitals. At the same time, they must have shown a strong commitment to nursing retention, recruitment and customer service.
South Fulton Medical Center is a 392-bed acute care hospital. The hospital offers emergency are, cardiac care, physical and occupational rehabilitation, inpatient oncology, ambulatory surgery, and women’s health services. The hospital also has a level two neonatal intensive care unit.
