EAST POINT, Ga. – August 20, 2003 – The Governing Board of South Fulton Medical Center today announced the appointment of Christopher Hummer as the new chief executive officer of the facility, effective September 8, 2003. Hummer will oversee all strategic, operational and clinical activities at the hospital.
Hummer, 32, was promoted to his new position after serving for two years as chief operating officer at Tenet’s St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., where he was responsible for operations oversight of the 203-bed facility. Among his achievements at St. Alexius were improving Emergency Department operating efficiencies and successfully managing several major construction and renovation projects. He also served as an associate administrator at Tenet’s Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford, N.C. While at Central Carolina Hospital, Hummer was able to increase the size of the active medical staff by 20% through the recruitment of various specialties. Prior to joining Tenet, Hummer was employed by Universal Health Services, Inc. from 1995 to 1997 as director of practice management at Victoria Regional Medical Center in Victoria, Texas.

We believe his background is well suited for his new role as chief executive officer at South Fulton Medical Center.”
Hummer holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in healh care administration from the University of Kansas.
South Fulton Medical Center, a 392-bed acute care hospital, is part of Tenet Georgia.
