SFMC ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF MAYOR PATSY JO HILLIARD AS CHAIRMAN OF GOVERNING BOARD
EAST POINT, Ga. (May 6, 2005)—South Fulton Medical Center (SFMC) is pleased to announce the appointment of City of East Point Mayor Patsy Jo Hilliard as chairman of the hospital’s governing board. Mayor Hilliard has served on SFMC’s governing board since 2004.
“South Fulton Medical Center has always had a special place in my heart,” says City of East Point Mayor Patsy Jo Hilliard. “With the dedicated staff and improved services, we will work diligently to benefit the residents of the Tri-Cities and South Fulton County as a community hospital is designed to.”
“The appointment of Mayor Hilliard is exciting for us at South Fulton Medical Center,” says SFMC CEO Chris Hummer. “It is a great marriage when the chairman has something invested in the hospital and the community.”
Hummer added, “Just as our previous chairman, Dr. Fernando Duralde, Mayor Hilliard has compassion and has taken ownership to help South Fulton Medical Center operate in the best interest of our communities.”
In the past year, SFMC has also added Tim Boggs, Charles Clopton, Jr., M.D. and William D. Shuler to its governing board.

Tim Boggs currently serves as the director of administration for Chick-Fil-A Corporation. Mr. Boggs has strong ties to the community as he was born and raised in East Point.

Charles Clopton, Jr., M.D. is a member of SFMC’s medical staff. Dr. Clopton is a family practitioner who brings a wealth of experience working with patients of many backgrounds. Dr. Clopton and his family reside in East Point.

William D. Schuler is a former vice president of the Union City-based Christian City, an organization designed to minister to the needs of families with particular emphasis on children, the aged, and the infirm, by providing health and social services. With his background, Mr. Schuler adds experience in dealing with senior populations.
