Camp Creek Imaging now offers Vascular Ultrasound

What is Vascular Ultrasound?

Vascular Ultrasound is also called ultrasound scanning or imaging, or sonography. A Vascular Ultrasound exposes the body to high frequency sound waves to produce images of the veins and arteries.  Vascular Ultrasound does not use radiation, therefore there are no known risks associated with the test.

You may be scheduled for a Vascular Ultrasound to:

• Evaluate the body’s circulatory system
• Monitor blood flow to organs and tissues
• Locate and identify blockages and abnormalities
• Detect blood clots in the legs or arms
• Evaluate prior procedures that bypass blood vessels
• Detect aneurysms
• Determine the source and severity of varicose veins

How do I prepare for my ultrasound?

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment. Front door parking is available. In general, you should wear loose, comfortable clothing that is easy to remove. You may need to undress and wear a patient gown for the exam. Please leave any jewelry and valuables at home.

What will happen during the ultrasound?
During the Vascular Ultrasound you will lie down on a table next to the ultrasound machine. The technologist will rub some gel on your skin around the area to be examined. Then he or she will press the transducer firmly against your body and begin moving it back and forth to produce the images needed.

Because the Vascular Ultrasound images can be seen in real time, the technologist can review the images during the ultrasound and the patient may have immediate results. In most instances, a physician must interpret the results after the ultrasound examination for a complete diagnosis.

The examination usually takes no more than 30 minutes and you usually can return to your normal activities after the exam.
