Cardiac Catheterization
A cardiac catheterization is a non-surgical test your doctor will perform by inserting a very narrow, soft, flexible plastic tube called a catheter, through a blood vessel and into your heart. X-ray images of your heart then can be taken to show how well your heart is working. At South Fulton Medical Center, a number of diagnostic procedures can be performed in the cardiac cath lab including:
• Aortogram
• Coronary Catheterization
• Electrocardiogram (EKG)
• Stress Test
Cardiology Services
Dedicated physicians and staff provide non-invasive services with the latest technology for the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease. Thousands of diagnostic tests are performed each year, including nuclear medicine, stress tests, echocardiograms, ultrasounds and EKGs.
In addition to procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, Cardiology Services at South Fulton Medical Center provides an array of diagnostic services including:
• Echocardiogram
• Transesophageal Echocardiograms
